Radiologic Technology

Radiologic Technology is a general program offering preparation for students who want to work in radiology departments of hospitals, offices of private physicians, clinics, or other health facilities that utilize radiographic procedures. The curriculum leads to the Associate of Applied Science degree, and graduates are eligible to apply for the national registry examination. Upon successful completion of the program and the registry examination, students may practice as registered radiologic technologists and are eligible to continue their education for a bachelor's degree.

The program is offered in cooperation with local hospitals. Hospital facilities provide clinical education required by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. A copy of Standards on Education in Radiologic Technology programs is available on request.

The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, 20 N. Wacker Dr., Ste. 900, Chicago, IL, 60606. The program has state-of-the-art lab equipment and is offered in cooperation with local hospitals.

An advisory committee assists College officials in the implementation of the Radiologic Technology curriculum under the standards established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology and the American Medical Association.

In addition to the general admission requirements of the College and the health sciences programs, the Bureau of Radiologic Health and Safety requires applicants to be within three months of being 18 years of age or older. Students planning to enter the Radiologic Technology program must submit the following to the Radiologic Technology program office by March 1:

  • Radiologic Technology Application Form.
  • all official college transcripts.
  • have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • completion or current enrollment of all prerequisites. Any or all of the general education courses listed in the curriculum may be taken prior to admission into the Radiologic Technology program. Completion of the general education courses enhances a student's selection to the program.
  • BIOL 2401 must have been taken within 5 years from the semester applying for admission.
  • HPRS 1106 and HPRS 1204 must have been taken within 2 years from the semester applying for admission.
