Transportation Training Services

Del Mar College Transportation Training Services has created an intensive training program to help the Transportation Industry with the high demand for qualified Class A & B drivers and provide individuals with access to better paying jobs. All classes are Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry Driver Level Training (ELDT) compliant.

Transportation Training Services: Class A Manual CDL Program

In just 5–8 short weeks, students gain knowledge and skills to be able to obtain a Class A CDL driver’s license, leading to an exciting new career.

After completing the 200-hour program, students will be qualified for entry-level positions with some of America's leading over the road and local carriers.

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have more than three moving violations in the past three years on the driving record and no current outstanding violations.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen.

Transportation Training Services: Class A Automatic Program

To safely operate a Class A vehicle, the CDL Class A Training courses will cover 120 hours of classroom/lab prerequisites and driving skills (40 hours of classroom/lab prerequisites and 80 hours of skill area and over-the-road driving instruction, including the Department of Public Safety driving test).

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have more than three moving violations in the past three years on the driving record and no current outstanding violations.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen.

Course Schedule:

Driving skills courses for transporting passengers and operating school buses will be scheduled based on demand and equipment availability.

Transportation Training Services: Class A Non-Air Brake Program

To safely operate a Class A vehicle without Air Brakes, the CDL Class A Non-Air Brake Training courses will cover 110 hours of classroom/lab prerequisites and driving skills (30 hours of classroom/lab prerequisites and 50 hours of skill area and over-the-road driving instruction, including the Department of Public Safety driving test).

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have more than three moving violations in the past three years on the driving record and no current outstanding violations.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen.

Driving skills courses for Class A Non-Air Brake will be scheduled based on demand and equipment availability.

Transportation Training Services: Bus Program

To safely operate a bus and transport passengers, the CDL Class B Training courses will cover 80 hours of classroom/lab prerequisites and driving skills (30 hours of classroom/lab prerequisites and 50 hours of skill area and over-the-road driving instruction, including the Department of Motor Vehicles driving test).

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid TX driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must not have more than three moving violations in the past three years on driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen.
