Course Information

Course Description

Instruction in first aid and emergency care skills including (but not limited to) emergency care and assistance, basic life support skills, EMS protocols, obstructed airway, CPR, use of AED devices, bandaging, and splinting. Additional topics include (but are not limited to) burns, sudden illness, poisoning, drug abuse, temperature emergencies, legal ramifications, barriers to action, requirements for action, and post incident psychological responses, as well as safety and preventative methods that reduce the risk of injury, accidents, and life-style related diseases. Students who successfully complete the cognitive and skills evaluation in accordance with the curriculum of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) Program will receive a BLS Provider Certification. Certification fees apply.
