Who Can Recieve Services
Individuals currently enrolled in credit courses (including Dual Credit and course auditors), noncredit courses, Continuing Education, TSI Testing, as well as those seeking enrollment or re-enrollment are eligible to receive services.
Services include, but are not limited to: 1) consultations, 2) community agency referral, and 3) accommodations (i.e., extended test time, testing in a reduced distraction environment, note taking assistance, assistive technology/software, special seating arrangements/furniture, readers/scribes, and alternative format text books).
To request services, students simply:
- Visit the DSO in the Harvin Student Center, Room 188, or phone (361) 698-1292 to schedule an appointment
- Complete a Request for Disability Support Services form
- Attend the scheduled intake meeting to discuss:
- The disability diagnosis
- Life activity limitations
- Impact in an educational setting
- Appropriate/effective accommodations
- Provide documentation from a qualified professional (i.e., medical doctor, psychologist, licensed therapist, certified diagnostician) and/or Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Proceedings, or Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings.
