Unusual Enrollment History
Beginning award year 2013-2014 and forward, the ED has established new regulations to prevent fraud and abuse in the Federal Pell Grant Program by identifying students with unusual enrollment histories. The ED will be placing an unusual enrollment flag on some of the Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which indicates that the student has an unusual enrollment history with regard to receiving Pell Grants at multiple institutions. Financial Aid Services is required to review the student’s enrollment and financial aid record to determine if, during the past four award years (2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017), the student has legitimate reasons for the unusual enrollment history. Financial Aid Services will identify and contact the students who will be required to resolve this before determining Federal Student Aid eligibility.
